An orientation to health occupations: nursing, medicine, dentistry
and allied health. Major themes include holistic health care,
legal and ethical issues, universal precautions, critical thinking,
and the health care system. Upon completion, students will be
able to make informed decisions regarding continuing education
and employment choices.

An intense study of the medical language including terms used
by health care workers in various medical fields. Emphasis is
placed on correct pronunciation, spelling and application of
medical terms. Students interested in pursuing a health occupation
should take this course. It is a prerequisite or co-requisite
for Medical Office Systems.

Emergency Procedures
Course # 5302 Credits: .5
Focuses on current emergency techniques, relative cardiac and/or
respiratory arrest and emergency health situations. The course
included instruction in "Universal Precautions", safety
and first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Students may achieve
Red Cross certification needed for work opportunities in the
health occupations field.
Anatomy and Physiology

This course is designed to provide knowledge of the structure
and function of the human body. Changes in the body processes
as the result of disease, injury or heredity will be discussed.
The course includes the study of the interaction of body systems
that enable the body to function as a unit. Completing the full
credit will fulfill the .5 elective science.
